HGS launches community outreach programme in Siliguri

Ties up with NGO Magic Bus to design and deliver the development programme

Hinduja Global Solutions Limited (HGS) (Listed on NSE & BSE, India), today announced that it has launched its community outreach programme in Siliguri, West Bengal. HGS has partnered with Magic Bus, an NGO at the forefront of Activity-Based Learning for child and youth, for this programme.

The objective of the programme is to create awareness and impart information on preventive health amongst children and the community as well as enable improvement in school enrolment using sports- and activity-based learning. This initiative would be carried out with the active participation of the children and youth, their parents, larger community and the teachers/ health workers.

Commenting on the development, Anthony Joseph, Global Head of HR at HGS said, “We recognize the critical need to build communities where children’s needs are met, and where they can grow and develop in the right way to face the world. The HGS-Magic Bus partnership aims to provide holistic education beyond academic knowledge and equip children with real-life skills in the communities we work in India.”

Talking about the partnership, Dr. Sujeet Ranjan, COO, Magic Bus, said: “We are encouraged and grateful to HGS for supporting children – especially girls – in Siliguri to learn the skills and attitudes that will help them to move out of poverty by the time they grow up. Our work will use proven curricula and local mentors to make sure that children grow up with all the rights due to children in India,”

HGS’ community outreach programme was earlier launched in Mysuru (Karnataka) in May 2015, and Guntur (Andhra Pradesh) in July 2015.Through this programme HGS will reach about 5,000 children and 1,800 youth in different parts of the country.
