Careline collects for Comic Relief

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 | UK

Volunteers in Careline's Selkirk contact centre collected over £128,000 for Comic Relief on Red Nose Day 2011, with 90 agents and management staff taking more than 4,000 calls from members of the public keen to donate.

The money goes towards the grand total of £74.3 million (and counting!) raised nationwide on the night. The funds will be used to alleviate poverty and undo injustice all around the world.

Careline's own Red Nose Day effort was organised by Selkirk-based Operations Manager, Elana Lawrie. "It was a crazy night – not just red noses but red balloons, red deely boppers, red gigglers and very silly red costumes. And, of course, a red hot performance from our team!"

And there were three big winners on the night:

  • Kevin Knox achieved the highest collection total
  • Dean Purves bagged the biggest single donation
  • Brian Smith handled the most calls

Congratulations to each of them and the whole of the team.
