An Indian-owned company has announced plans to create 200 new call centre jobs in the Scottish Borders, as part of an expansion drive.
HGS Europe, which is part of Hinduja Global Solutions Ltd, said the Selkirk-based roles would include customer service and technical helpdesk roles.
A further 300 jobs are to be created at HGS's site in Preston, Lancashire.
The company's Selkirk centre provides customer support for clients such as Lloyds Banking and Astra Zeneca.
HGS Europe chief executive Matthew Vallance said: "The creation of these 500 new roles across our sites in Preston and Selkirk will provide significant career opportunities in the local areas, and allow us to achieve our growth ambitions.
"We are delighted to be immediately augmenting our existing teams of talented professionals.
"We appreciate the support received at the national level from organisations such as UK Trade and Investment, Scottish Development International, Scottish Enterprise, and at the local level by Lancashire County Council, all of whom have helped us drive our expansion plans forward."
Hinduja Global Solutions operates a global network of call centre across the US, Canada, the UK, India, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, UAE and the Philippines.
